You might think Miami is all about the stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and fantastic food–and you might be right. After moving to this great city I noticed right off the bat that we’re missing a certain something: stationery!
But, as I adjust to the area, I’ve definitely encountered some great stores to supplement my online purchases. Whether you’re looking for sticky notes, gel pens, or a brand new notebook, it’s definitely worth checking these stores first.
So, let’s dive into Miami’s best stationery and art stores to discover some hidden gems.
Top Stationery Stores in Miami to Visit
While there are not many stationery-specific stores in the area, there are a few stores that should be on your radar. These stores offer everything from stationery sets and stickers to art supplies.
I’ve curated my favorites from this blog post into a helpful Google Maps list so you can take a look and see which of these stores are closest to you.
Here are five must-visit stationery stores in Miami:
1. Colorful Cute: Located in Sunset Place, this store is a woman-owned small business focused on all things kawaii. You can find everything from memo pads to quirky gel pens at this location.
2. MINISO: Found in the touristy Dolphin Mall, this chain specializes in everything bright and adorable. You’ll be able to buy cute desk accessories and stationery items like scissors or gel pens themed after popular brands like Sanrio and Disney.
3. Urben Gifts and Gadgets: This cozy boutique on Sunset Drive specializes in gifts for men and women. The store carries planners, cards, classy pens, and luxurious premade stationery sets.
4. Michaels: Available in many parts of Miami, this arts and crafts store chain is surprisingly stocked with stationery supplies. They carry stamps, washi tapes, highlighters, and most things you’ll need for your art journal.
5. Five Below: Found all over Miami, this chain store carries pop culture, movie, gaming and anime-themed stationery supplies at an affordable price. They carry an abundance of affordable pens, notebooks, and calendars!
1. Colorful Cute
Miami’s one-stop kawaii shop is definitely at the top of this list! They offer a vast selection of everything cute, from tiny notebooks and sticky notes to decorative stickers. The store is unapologetically adorable–selling brands like Sanrio, San-X, Studio Ghibli, TokiDoki, and plenty of anime merchandise.
The store, located in Sunset Place, has a very cozy ambiance and it is a favorite among locals for the staff’s friendly disposition and the frequent events that they host. Whether you’re looking to buy a blind box or pick up some stationery, it is definitely worth stopping by!
2. MINISO
Although the stationery selection is relatively small, in a pinch you can find popular brands carrying school supplies at this chain store. Think highlighters, stickers, pencils, and notebooks featuring designs from popular IPs like Sanrio, Marvel, and Sesame Street.
Located in Dolphin Mall, this store is also great if you are looking to shop ‘till you drop! With over 240 retail outlets nearby, you’ll definitely be able to convince your friends to join you for this one. Give this store a look-through and see if you can resist picking up some plushies or decor... Good luck! (ᗒᗨᗕ)
3. Urben Gifts and Gadgets
Perfect for those looking to get started with building a stationery collection, this boutique offers a curated selection of luxury goods for every type of person. Dip your toes into journaling with planners that have pre-written prompts or purchase a set that includes everything you need to get started writing to your pen pal.
This store is filled with a ton of quirky pencil cases, stickers, letter sets, and cards that are sure to stand out. It’s a great spot if you’re looking to buy a gift for the holidays or find something unique for yourself. Conveniently located next to Colorful Cute, you could absolutely take a look at both and grab yourself some boba tea nearby as a bonus.
4. Michael’s
If you’re looking specifically for Japanese stationery like mildliners and brush pens, your only local option may be this art supply store. A chain like this is a safe bet for scrapbooking and bullet journaling materials although it may lack the je ne sais quoi that smaller brands on this list have.
There are quite a few locations in Miami which make this a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to bother with street parking or driving a long distance. I’m always impressed with their inventory and can usually find what I’m looking for. You might be surprised to find out they carry ink pads, pencil cases, journals and even wax beads.
5. Five Below
Great for anyone looking for stationery, but not willing to pay a high price or sacrifice convenience. Since this is a large chain, you can find this brand all over Miami–chances are there is one within 15 minutes of you!
They offer an eclectic supply of themed merchandise from Minecraft to Hatsune Miku. I tend to stop here for items that I’m not willing to spend a lot on like stickers or sticky notes, but they have a relatively large selection. I was surprised to see that they carry calligraphy fountain pen sets, mechanical pencils, and felt tip pens.
Other Notable Stationery Stores in Florida
While the options on this list are all awesome, if you’re looking for a stationery-specific store then I personally recommend taking a drive to visit some farther stores in Florida when you get the chance!
Paper Seahorse
Located in Tampa, this small business opened their doors in 2014 and has been a favorite among the journaling community in Florida ever since. This store is an official partner with The TRAVELER’S COMPANY Japan and offers plenty of workshops on top of their awesome selection. You won’t have any trouble finding your favorite washi tape, fountain pen, and letter sets here so it’s definitely worth taking a trip North.
Everything Scrapbooking
Don’t let the name deceive you: This shop has much more than scrapbooking supplies! If you find yourself in Wellington be sure to stop by and browse their selection of stamps, inks, and paper goods. This store also has the added benefit of offering classes on topics ranging from art journaling to card making. Give it a shot!
Lighthouse Paper Co.
Last, but not least, this Melbourne-based shop offers a wide collection of stationery supplies and writing tools. This store carries some awesome brands like Kokuyo, MT, and Hobonichi. They are also an authorized retailer of TRAVELER’S notebooks and accessories. If you are planning to take a trip to see it, be sure to check their events calendar for any classes that might be happening when you visit.
Conclusion
Although the stationery scene in Miami is not as strong as a city like Los Angeles or Tokyo, you can definitely find your fair share of locations to buy your journaling supplies in person. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post and we hope that you can find what you’re looking for on this list.
If not, please consider taking a look at our store! We are a Vtuber-owned small business focused on bringing the joy of Japanese stationery to the United States.
