Cute and Cool Fountain Pen Artists (and Their Artwork) to Inspire You

Fountain pens are not just for writing—don't believe me? Read this blog post!

Artists, craft hobbyists, and stationery lovers have been experimenting with fountain pens to create their own unique art styles. Read on to see some impressive fountain pen art and learn a bit about the artists that made them!

1. Cute Things with a Piston Blade Pen

@meganroseruiz Trying out the Piston Blade Pen from thingsbydan! What do you think? Have you ever tried a fountain pen before? #pen #ink #inking #illustration #drawing #artistsoftiktok #art #artistsontiktok ♬ original sound - Megan (they/them)

This adorable fountain pen art was created by meganroseruiz on TikTok. They are using a unique thingsbydan Piston Blade Pen.

Megan is a talented queer illustrator and traditional painter with an astoundingly impressive (and whimsical!) art style. A lot of their art is bright, eye-catching, and features some of our most beloved characters from our favorite games and shows, like Pokémon, Sonic, My Little Pony, and Sanrio, along with some of their own amazing original works. But it is especially cool to see them working with a Piston Blade Pen—a special type of fountain pen designed to hold more ink without the need for constant re-dipping.

I look forward to seeing more of their amazing art style on my feed!

2. Pen Plotter Painting

There's just something so cool and unique about watching a tool intended for architectural blueprints as a method to create intricate and eye-catching illustrations. According to the creator, u/lostPixels, the artwork—created using Pilot Kakuno and De Atramentis document inks—features 426.707 meters of lines.

I'm loving all the little details here. (* ̄▽ ̄)b

Psssst: You can find more art using this very unique style in the r/plotterart community.

3. Adorable Art Diary

Aneta_Draws' art diary tour includes some really impressive illustrations! This Czech watercolor mixed-media artist has a beautiful style. Featuring cats, plants, and plenty of sparkles, these amazing drawings were created using LAMY Safari roller and fountain pens, as well as a Pentel brush pen and IKEA felt tips for color on a Midori MD Cotton Sketchbook.

4. Manga in a Cool Medium

@rawrrawrbutimshy hmmMmh Rarity Level 10 Post 🫵🏻☺️ Have been really busy lately with practicing using a new favourite medium which are dip pens and fountain pens 💸 #fountainpen #midoripaper #sketchbook ♬ orijinal ses - 𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘧★

This artist has an insane amount of talent, bringing scenes from shows like Mirai Nikki (Future Diary), Akame ga Kill, and SouSou no Frieren (Frieren) to life. They never fail to surprise me with the amount of depth and detail that goes into each page of their Midori notebook.

I can't wait to see more of their work with dip pens and fountain pens! (〃 ̄ω ̄〃ゞ

5. Portrait Sketches

Capturing some of the most lifelike animal portraits that I've ever seen, Michelle (stainedraven) is a traditional and digital artist based in Germany. This particular piece was drawn with a fountain pen but their page features tons of extremely detailed sketches created with ballpoint pens, fineliners, and watercolor.

6. My Hero Magic

Elle (@numbuh424) created such a great drawing of Sero! I love how the character's personality comes across in a vibrant way. Also, the hatching where they shaded the suit adds such a crazy amount of depth.

I'm a huge fan! (。´∀`)ノ

7. A Witchy Fungus Tree

Pour a cup of tea and join Peter Draws for a relaxing drawing session! This piece was created using a Kaweco Sport fountain pen with Platinum Carbon black ink and really has a sort of eerie—but very interesting—atmosphere to it. Their ability to switch between fine and broad strokes captures the beauty of the natural world.

8. Sketchbook Session with OCs

Cosmic Spectrum Art create stunningly lively illustrations of her characters, in this video using a TWSBI fountain pen for drawing. I'm in love with the character designs and really enjoyed seeing the process from start to finish.

Thank you so much for sharing your art with the world! ◝(^⌣^)◜

9. Kawaii Illustrations with Copics

It's really great to see Asia Ladowska's art style in this cute illustration, drawn using a Copic Drawing Fountain Pen.

I'm loving the little details in the Sakura blossoms, and I'm loving the way they shaded the eyes. I can't wait to see more!

10. A Cute Commission

The design of this drawing is so interesting and the artist really captured all the beautiful details! _Risupon_ is an artist and cosplayer with a very adorable style.

Each line looks so delicate, yet very powerful. I'm very happy that I came across their art!
